Second book award for Quietly Powerful
I am totally blown away... Quietly Powerful received a second award - Best Leadership Book for 2020 by the Australian Business Book Awards (ABBA)!
With so many amazing authors including the finalists in the leadership category Zoe Routh, whose book "People Stuff" received the ABBA Book of the Year and Wendy Born (fellow author at Major Street Publishing) with her book "Raising Leaders" I feel very honoured. Congratulations to winners/finalists in other categories and everyone who entered - the ABBA judges did say the standard was very high.
A big thanks to ABBA judges who gave so much of their time, generous sponsors and ceremony hosts Andrew Griffiths and Michael Hanrahan (in photos above). Incredibly, ABBA is donating $10,000 of funds raised to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
Again, thank you Lesley Williams who texted me straight away and the team at Major Street Publishing for their continued support.
Quietly Powerful book awarded Australian Career Book Award for 2020!
It was an honour to attend the RSA Australian Career Book Awards virtual ceremony on 18th October as one of six finalists. And WOW, the Quietly Powerful book was awarded the Australian Career book award for 2020!
I was rather shocked as the five other finalists' books covered such a variety of important topics. Congratulations to the finalists Leah Mether, Caroline Sandford, Annie Stewart, Hunter Leonard and Suzanne Cremen, PhD!
I can't thank Lesley Williams and the team at Major Street Publishing enough for their support and encouragement. It felt strange not being able to give Lesley a hug after the announcement... she sent me a lovely bunch of flowers a few hours later instead - thank you!
A big thanks to convenor Lawrence Arnold FRSA who announced the Awarded Book with his thoughts on the book and the book launch last year, Philipa Duthie and Mark Strachan from RSA Oceania and to all the award panel members Warren Frehse, Kathryn Jackson (FCIPD, Senior EIA, FRSA), June Smith, Kaye Nolan, Sandy Hutchison, Career Transition Specialist and Sue Ellson for supporting the Award.

'Calm in Chaos' virtual learning group session
Calm in Chaos was started on 20th March 2020 as the Coronavirus chaos started to impact us in a big way, all around the world.
The plan is to have ongoing sessions each week to create space to step back and access our inner calm.
HEREis what we are doing - it's experimental and will adapt over time, just like what is happening in the world. The intent to spread calm (rather than the virus or panic) will guide us.
1300 people at the Empowering Women Summit - Vic State Government
Thank you Empowering Women Summit for inviting me back this year to run workshops! Congratulations to everyone involved, Sheyda Kazemi and the Victorian Department of Premier & Cabinet team members, volunteers, senior sponsors - you do an amazing job of pulling together such a big event of 1,300 or so Victorian public service professionals. Not an easy task! I had fun with "Stop faking till you make it" and "Working with your inner critics".
