What would Santa say about your leadership in 2015?

As we head into the festive season and end of 2015, it’s a great time to reflect on our achievements and lessons from the year. It can build our awareness, confidence and help us to continue to get better.
Imagine that Santa was watching you throughout 2015. Or perhaps he secretly interviewed people you worked with. What would he say about:
- Whether people wanted to be led by you or they followed because they had to?
- How you inspired people to be and contribute the best they can (see How much do you inspire people to perform at their best)?
- How purposeful your leadership was?
- How you empowered others – gave people authority and strengthened their ability to take it on (see Can you empower people too much?)?
- Whether you led with passion and love vs self-protection and fear?
- Whether you supported people to build their confidence or damaged them (see Confidence is misunderstood)?
- What positive difference you made to people and to the work you do?
- How much you paid attention to the impact you have, including the small things (see Sweat the small stuff in leadership)?
- Whether you walked the talk or talked the talk (see The Most Problematic Leadership Gap: The Knowing-Doing Gap)?
- Whether people felt heard by you or ignored, overlooked, spoken over (see Listen! It’s your secret leadership advantage)?
- How much you supported others to become better leaders themselves?
- How you dealt with conflict – made it worse, made it constructive or avoided it (see Can harmony be damaging your team and organisation?)?
- Whether you valued and harnessed people’s unique differences (see Are you a leader that brings out the best from a mix of different people)?
- How well you adapted to different or changing situations and different people?
- Whether you checked your assumptions and biases about situations and people (see Assumptions: the silent assassin)?
- Whether you were courageous and bold or held yourself back (see How much and how often do you hold yourself back?)?
- How well you used your power (See Power Blindness)?
Leadership is not easy, so wherever we were in 2015, let’s all continue to build on it and improve.
